A movement is emerging in education and the arts where we as educators and artists find ourselves discussing ways to invite creativity, spiritual life, cultural knowledge and meaning into our work. Our intention is to continue bringing creativity and wholeness into our professional and personal lives and into the communities and institutions in which we teach, inspire the creative process, art-making and provide leadership. This reflects a growing concern with re-newing, calling forth and embracing our creativity, purpose, multiple identities, cultural knowledge, spiritual life, and authenticity in our society in general. Because of the powerful and influential roles that elementary, secondary and higher education play in our culture, nourishing the educator and artist is an integral part of this journey. "Nourishing the Soul of the Teacher: A Paradigm Shift in Education" is an opportunity to deepen our creativity, explore social/political/economic concerns rooted from our cultural awareness, spiritual life, and wholeness in our lives as educators, artists and leaders in this vibrant and transformative time of great potential and possibility.
